mcdonalds? the epitome of the american imperialistic empire.
Taking over the world one delicious, greasy hash brown at a time. _________________ Low lie the Fields of Athenry

Couldn't understand a word but still a funny commercial. I'm not really in support of McDs adds that target kids though. If adults want to fill their bodies up with that trash than that is their decision but kids don't always understand what eating garbage like that is doing to their bodies. I saw a news report the other day that talked about how some doctors are recomending that cholesterol medications be perscribed routinely for children. If the parents stopped feeding their kids Big Macs then they could probably save money by not having to pay for perscription cholesterol fighting drugs. _________________ Beer, Celtic, Sens, and Pats. well parents shouldnt allow their kids to go to mcdonalds.
not for governments to decide
That was kind of my point TD. I realize that advertisers can do what they please and that it is up to parents to decide what their kids eat, but I still don't like the deliberate targeting of kids by fast food ads. Kids are much more easily manipulated by advertising and that makes parents jobs much more difficult when trying to get kids to eat healthy. As I said, it is the parents’ job to teach their kids to eat right but I just get disgusted by the marketing tactics of some of the big corporations. Think about how many kids will die from obesity related problems as a result of bad eating habits. Parent can pack healthy lunches and get the kids involved in healthy eating and lifestyle activities but at the end of the day all the kids and teens have to do is throw out their bagged lunch and by crap from the caf or at the McD's down the road because all the advertising makes them think it's cooler. I am not saying the government should start controlling what we eat but that we as consumers need to be more vocal about the deliberate targeting of children by fast food companies when it comes to the future health of our society. Just two weeks ago, at the nursing home I work at one of the resident's children (proly only in their early 40s) dropped dead from a heart attack while I was on duty. No disrespect to the dead but the person was obese and what had I seen the person eating not 2 hrs earlier? A hamburger. I am not saying that the hamburger killed that person or that the resident was a bad parent who didn't teach their child better eating habits, heck I don't even know how long that person has been obese for. All I'm saying is that tragic early deaths like that will become more common if kids are not raised with better eating habits and their is only so much the parents can do to force their kids to eat healthy. We already have an aging population because of the baby boomers, if half of the younger people are dropping from MIs that is going to create an even bigger healthcare crisis than the one that we are already preparing to face and is also simply bad for society as a whole. Kids developing bad eating habits is the parents problem today, but will be all our problems tomorrow. _________________ Beer, Celtic, Sens, and Pats. Now that's sports at it's best! Mon the Hoops!
